FIFTH AVENUE APARTMENT RENOVATION

Full Renovation on Fifth Avenue

A classic meets modern vision at iconic One Fifth Avenue.

The 27 story legendary One Fifth Avenue is one of the most sought after co-op buildings in the city.  Constructed in 1927, the Greenwich Village landmark is at once modern and Art Deco, stoic yet elegant and approachable. Within its coveted brick walls, a gut-renovated apartment with architecture by Povero & Company and interiors by Tamara Magel Studio reflects its storied address. Renovated to the design teams’ specifications, its beautiful pre-war bones were not only allowed to shine, but were celebrated.

In the light filled all-white living room, classic architectural details are used to great effect. The ceiling is heightened by beams and defined by cast multiple layers of plaster crown moldings created by our team of artisans. High gloss white lacquer adds further visual dimension to the ceiling, while hand cast fluted plaster moldings envelop the room with an air of elegance and an echo of the Art Deco roots of the building.  A custom chevron white oak floor flows through the residence, adding a warm contemporary contrast to the white walls and ceilings.

Apparatus studio sconces artfully punctuate either side of the entry to the dining room from the living room. Here built-in shelving and a bespoke bar offer both storage and a sophisticated contrast to the white interior. Solid oak bookshelves stained in a dark custom tone are home to books wrapped in white by the design team. The all white tomes add visual continuity and allow the architectural details to further pop. The bar, also fabricated by Daddio’s master craftspeople, is solid walnut clad in antique mirror with a custom patina and bronze metal work trim.
